Kiwi Can Reflection

Kiwi Can
WALT: Give it a go and don't give up.
On Tuesday we had Kiwi Can but only Mr Malu was there because Miss Lilly was sick. When we walked in the hall we were split into four groups. We started off with a game called fish in the bucket. The point of the game is to shoot a fish into a bucket but don't use actual fish. Every time a stages finishes you have to move the bucket back. I was in group two. My group didn't win any of the stages but at least we gave it a go. After our energizer we had to try and come up with a chant but my group and two other groups failed After the chants we went outside for our last energizer. For our last energizer we had to put a rugby ball under our t-shirts and run to the other side of the field without dropping it but when you get to the other side you have to spin around ten times. After our energizer we had a game of rugby but the girls went to the other side of the field and played a game of touch a think. My group was put together with group 1 and group 3 was put together with group 4. It was a good game. There were no fights no dirty playing and other stuff like that. My team ended up winning. The main thing I learnt at Kiwi Can was to stay calm and carry on because I saw some people about to start going overboard with their tackles but they just stayed calm and carried on with the game.

Kiwi Sport

WALT: Play Basketball games to improve our dribbling.

The challenges that I had in our lesson was trying to stay calm, don't give up on myself and team and to not slip on the court. I couldn't really stay calm in my team because there was alot of shouting on the court coming from my team and the other team. During our last game I was almost gonna give up on myself but when our coach shouted out the score I noticed that we were still losing so I kept going and never stopped trying. I also found that I kept on slipping on the court because of my balance. It is hard to stay balance when there are heaps of people coming at you when you have the ball that's why I kept slipping. The best part of the lesson was our first game which was golden child because my team was really good with their shooting but when it came to running they kept slowing down but we managed to win the whole thing. I really liked the last game because it was challenging but we still managed to get the ball in the hope. When I looked at the opposite team I noticed that my team had lots of short people and the other team had lots of tall people but didn't stop us from getting the ball in. What I didn't like about today session was that most of my team mates was trying their best and not sharing the ball with others that's why we lost the last game for Kiwi Sport. What I also didn't like was hearing that this week was our last week of Kiwi Sport for this term because we had some great time with our coaches their names are Hyrum and Peter. I hope we see them next term as well.

Lions Tour Manager Attacked

Lions Tour Manager Attacked
IALT: summarise an article that I have read into my own words.

Image result for john spencer lionsLions tour manager John Spencer was attacked at an Auckland restaurant by a drunk NZ man. The attack happened at a popular city center venue, Depot. John Spencer was having dinner with his wife, family and friends when a drunk man walked up to John Spencer and started abusing him with bad language and other things. The staff member didn't take action for what the man was doing to John Spencer so he kept trying to push him away. A photograph was requested but a man described to be bruck walked up to him. John was part of the 1971 Lions squad. The only victorious Lions tour in New Zealand. The Lions don't want to make any complaints and don't want to put charges on the man for what he done. All the lions staff has been well treated since they had landed in NZ. The landed on May the 31. He is the only staff member that has been rudely treated since they have landed. The man who was drunk is lucky that they did not press any charges on him. I'm surprised that they didn't want to complain about the man.

QLD VS NSW Game Two

IALT: write my thoughts and feelings on the State Of Origin game two.

The second game for the state of origin was a good game for. I am a Queensland supporter. It was a great game for Queensland. Now Johnathan Thurston can trie and win another game for his last year in the State Of Origin. It was also great when one of the greatest players of Queensland returned to the Origin and his name is Billy Slater. Queensland was lucky that Johnathan Thurston got their last conversion in because if they didn't they would of had to play for an extra five minute or would of had to try and score a try before full time. Billy Slater was the first person to get hit in the game but they earned a penalty because he got tackled without the ball. Now that queens and have won the second game both teams will have to try and win the last game if they want to win 2017 State Of Origin. The next game is in 12 of July 2017. Three players got hit in the second game but I only know the names for two players. One of them was Jarryd Hayne and one of them was Billy Slater. Johnathan Thurston didn't miss any of his conversions at the game but NSW kicker only missed one of his conversions which gave QLD the chance to win.

Matariki

WALT: make a film on what we learnt about Matariki.
This was a short film made by me and my two friend Falakiko and Sene. This film talks about what we know about Matariki. We wanted to add more stuff to our script but we also wanted to keep it nice and short. Make sure to go and leave a comment on their blogs as well. FALAKIKO BLOG SENE BLOG. What I found challenging was trying to memorize my lines. What I didn't find challenging was recording because we didn't have to restart our recording that much but we restarted like three times.

Kiwispot Reflection

WALT: Show teamwork while playing Basketball at Kiwisport.
Today at Kiwisport we were only playing games because it was our last session but only Peter turned up today because the other coaches where away. The first game we played was Golden Child. In Golden Child you will need two teams one team for shooting and one team for running. The team that is running as to run around the court before the person shooting gets the ball in. The last person running has to try and tag the people that are out to get them back in the game but if they don't cross the line then the whole group is out. I was the first Golden Child Then My friend Matthew and then My friend Siale went. My team lost I think it was 1-4 that was the points. The second game that we played was Numbers. In Numbers you will also need two teams. Both team has to stand on the sideline so when the coach shouts out a number that is that number of people that has to run on to the court. My team won the whole game the points was 10-0. But I only played for a little while because I took one of my mates to the sick bay because he slipped and hit the pole and scraped his knee. When I came back it was the last round but I didn't really do anything in the last round I just ran on the court and shouted peoples names. After the last game we got into a circle and put our hands in and shouted Tamaki.

What I Know About Tree Planting

Tree Planting
What I know about tree planting is:
  • Helps Reduce Air Pollution
  • There Are Different Types Of trees You Can Plant
  • It Celebrates Matariki
  • It Supplies Us With Food

When we plant trees it helps reduce air pollution. The tree takes in all the bad air and turns it into good air so that we can breathe properly.

There are different types of trees that you can plant. Some trees come with fruits but the fruits only grow at a certain time.

Matariki is one of the celebrations we have in New Zealand. It represents the Maori new years. Many people say that planting crops and trees is one of the many ways to celebrate Matariki.

Some trees have fruits that grow from them. If you plant a tree that has food growing from it you are helping the community and helping yourself. You're helping yourself because it gives you food to feed your family and yourself.

Types Of Trees
  • Oak Trees
  • White Oak Trees
  • Banana Trees
  • Coconut Trees
  • Palm Trees
  • Apple Trees
  • Peach Trees
  • Lemon Trees
  • Orange Trees
  • Pohutukawa Tree
These are the types of trees that I know. If you want more than search it up on Google.

Disney Moana Coming In Te Reo

Disney Moana Coming In Te Reo

IALA: Disney translating Moana into Maori.

Disney has announced that they are going to translate Moana into Maori for the fluent speakers. Moana is a movie about a girl that travels across the sea to save her island from darkness. Most of the cast will be swapped with a fluent speaker for the Maori version of Moana. Waititi said creating a Maori version of Moana is a big step for them. One of the cast said that "making a Maori version of Moana is a good thing for them so they can help out the people that don't really understand the english version". Applications must be fluent Maori over 13 years old and have to be at the studio between the 24 of June and 12 of July. Auditions must be in by the 15 of June. I think this is a good thing that they are doing it is helping out the Maori people that don't understand english.

White Water Rafting Reflection

White Water Rafting

WALT: Reflect on what we learnt at Vector Wero White Water Park.
On Friday 9th of June we went to Vector Wero White Water Park in Manukau. We left school at 10:30. When we arrived at the Water Rafting Park there was another school. They came down from Raglin a couple hours away from Auckland. As soon as they said that they came from Raglin it brang back the memories from our last school camp which was last year. After they left we had to wait for a while so we went for a walk around the park and did some team building activites. When they were ready to get us we had to put on some gear so that we are safe while we are rafting. We had to put on a wet suit, life jacket and a helmet. Before we got in the raft we had to learn some safety rules. After the safety rules we stepped inside the river so that we can learn how to cross a river without being dragged away. After crossing the river we got in our rafts. We went for three laps in the river and then they let us have a swim. What I enjoyed about the rafting was that no one in my group fell out or lost their paddle. What I didn't enjoy was the water because it was freezing. After all of our rafting we went and got changed and waited for our bus driver. When our bus driver arrived we got in the bus and drove back to school.

Kiwi Can Reflection

WAL: What the meaning is for reliability.

At Kiwi Can we where learning the meaning of reliability but before that we learnt the Sasa which is a cultural dance in Samoa and this game called Bop It. We were doing the Sasa for our greeting to Kiwi Can and our leaders also did it with us. The Bop it game was just like the actual Bop it toy but you had to do the actions with your whole body. The moves where Bop it(just go up and down), twist it(twist your body half way), jump it(jump up and down) and spin it(spin around). After the greeting and energiser we were talking about the meaning for reliability. What reliability means to me is that someone can trust you with their stuff or people are able to trust you to do something for them. For example if you ask someone to borrow something from them they are going to relying on you to bring it back in the same way they gave it to you. For the activity we played numbers which is a game where you walk around and someone will shout out a number and the number they shout out is the number of people you have to have in your group. I was in the final round with my friend Siale but instead of getting into groups we had to play bang. We were back to back and the word was chocolate chip we where walking forward until someone shouted out the word but I ended up losing the game because Siale shot me first.

Highlanders Beat Lions

Highlanders Beat Lions

WALT: reflect on an article that we have read.

The Otago Highlanders have beaten the lions 23-22 in a thrilling match of rugby. A penalty was given to the Highlanders with five minutes to go which gave the Highlanders the opportunity for a conversion to win the whole game. Earlier during the game Naholo and Coltman scored tries for the team with Sapuanga with two penalties and 2 conversion. In the Lions team they scored three tries Joseph, Seymour and Warburton. The Lions have only won two games out of four during the Lions series. The Lions next game will be against the NZ Maori All Blacks this weekend. I thought that the Highlanders where going to lose because they were down some point in the second half but they kept going and they won the game by one point. What I mostly liked about the game was when the Highlanders gave the sword to the Lions. I got this article from KiwiKids News. What I didn't like about the game was when they just kept clearing the ball because when they went to kick the ball the other team would kick it back and then they would kick it back to them and it would just keep going until they decide to take the ball and run. Good job to the Highlanders for winning their game against the Lions.

Kiwi Sport Reflection T2W7

WALT: Reflect on what we done for Kiwi Sport.

This week at Kiwi Sport we had coach Peter and coach Yaran. This week for Kiwi Sport we where going to do more shooting and going to have a game of Side Line Basketball. But we couldn't do it because of the weather so we had to come back to class. So instead of doing what the instructors had planned for us they just asked us questions about basketball to see what we have learnt about Basketball. The types of questions that they asked was basic questions for example they where asking us how many people should be on the court and how many minutes are there in one quarter. I learnt the five positions in Basketball which is Point Guard, Power Forward, Small Forward, Shooting Guard and Center. To be honest this session for Basketball was pretty boring.
That is pretty much what we done at Kiwi Sport this week.

Weekend Reflection

Weekend Reflection

WALT: Reflect on what we done on the weekends.

On Saturday I went to church the group that was preaching was the women's ministry. I dont know what they were preaching about because I was outside looking after my little brother and other kids. When church finished my parents dropped me off at home and went to my grandpa and my nana's house. While I was waiting for my parents to come back I was eating Lu Sipi. When my parents got home we had to go back to church. When we got to church it was time to go to class. I think we finished about two pursuits. When class finished we went inside for the last program. The last program was about our church youth going to Niue. After church we went to a house in Avondale for this thing. It was for a man that past away. He was Niuean and Tongan. He was one of the men's that helped out the youth in Niue. We just went to there house to comfort them but only a little bit of the youth turned up to the house.

On Sunday I stayed home cleaned up the house with my brothers. When we finished we went for a ride to Glen Innes but I left with my mum to go and pick up the washing. After wee picked up the washing we had to go and pick up my dad from church. I think my dad was helping the men's clean up the church. When we left church we went to my uncle house for a meeting. When we left my uncle's house we went back home. I was just sitting in the lounge watching movies with my brothers.

This is my weekend reflection.
What I found challenging was trying to finish it on time because I was in a rush.
What wasn't challenging was reflecting on my weekend.

How To Make A Quality Blog Post

WALT: Make a video to help others make a good quality blog post.
This was created by me and my friend Toma.
What I found challenging was trying to finish recording because to much people was walking past us so we had to stop it because it would get ruined. What I enjoyed was working with Toma because we had lots of fun recording. Thank you very much for viewing our video and please leave a comment.

Samoan Language Week

WALA: The Samoan culture.
This presentation was created by me and my two friends Kiko and Aumau.
Me and Kiko are actually Tongan and Aumau was the only Samoan in this group.

Vector Wero Whitewater Park

WALT: Learn the safety rules at Vetor Wero Whitewater Park.
This presentation was created by me and my two friends, Toma and Metui.
It was hard because there was heaps of slides and we had to do heaps of research.
This is part of our inquiry for this term but it mainly helps us with our physical health.

That Sugar Film

WALT: Reflect on what we have completed for inquiry.

Ill be talking about what we have done for the first half of our inquiry.

For inquiry we have been learning about our health our topic is based on filled for life. The slideshow that I was working on with toma talks about sugar and what sugar does to our bodies but we only could do a little bit of it because of the time we had.

This is all we have done for our inquiry. There is 24 slides to be done but we have only completed 7 slides the rest will probably be completed tomorrow or sometime today. What I found challenging was finding the definetion for refined sugar because there was two words that I didn't know the meaning to.
Please leave a comment if you have enjoyed it.
